Andrew James Holmes (born November 14, 1988) is an American composer, singer, and actor from Southern California. He is best known for his work for his work with American musical theatre company Team StarKid, of which he was a founding member.
Early Life and Education[]
He was exposed to music from an early age as his father played the piano and his mother liked to sing. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with a BFA in Musical Theatre.
Work[]
He is also known for playing the role of Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon on Broadway, the US Tour, the West End, Melbourne, and Sydney. He played Frederick Frankenstein in the national tour of Young Frankenstein: The Musical from September 2011 through May 2012. He was a staff writer on South Park. In 2019, he put on "Yeah, But Not Right Now" at both the Edinburgh Fringe and the Hudson Theatre in La, an hour-long show full of stand-up, storytelling, and songs.
A.J. served as the director for the Edinburgh Fringe and SoHo Playhouse show The Writing on the Stall which was produced by Ali Gordon[1].
StarKid Productions[]
In Team Starkid, he wrote half the songs for A Very Potter Musical (AVPM), most in Me and My Dick (MAMD), as well as writing some songs for A Very Potter Senior Year. He was also the sole composer of Twisted, leading him to be most closely identified with that musical.
He performed at StarKid Homecoming, playing keyboard in the orchestra and conducting for a large amount of the show, as well as performing "Listen To Your Heart", "Gilderoy!" and the Mouse Prince monologue.
A.J. then returned to StarKid to appear as Fezziwig in A VHS Christmas Carol. He then reprised the role in the live production. A.J. also appeared as Ebenezer Scrooge in VHS Christmas Carols.
