The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals[]

Alice first appears alongside Deb, Danny, and Smoke Club Girl on the phone with her father. Danny suggests that she take a hit of the weed he is smoking, but she declines. This prompts the boy to state that "you're either in the smoke club or out," which causes both Deb and Alice to leave together. After leaving the smoke club, Alice and Deb witness the meteor falling in Hatchetfield. It is later revealed that the meteor crashed onto the Starlight Theater, where the two were expected to go see Mamma Mia with Bill that night.

The next morning, Alice is expected to get on a bus and return home to her mother in Clivesdale. On the way there, Bill and Alice have an argument over Alice's relationship with Deb. Alice accuses him of not liking Deb. Bill then suggests that Alice should date someone else, like Grace Chasity, which Alice refuses, calling Grace a 'nerdy prude'. Alice then suggests that Bill really wants Grace to be his daughter, to which he responds, "at least she's nice to me at church!". Following the argument, Bill watches as Alice boards the bus to take her to Clivesdale, but unbeknownst to him, she gets off and goes to find Deb.

Because she decided to stay, Alice ends up getting trapped in Hatchetfield during the apotheosis. She manages to barricade herself in the choir room at Hatchetfield High, where she calls her dad. Bill and Paul set out in an attempt to save her, but by the time they arrive at the high school, Alice has already been infected (presumably at the hands of Deb and the Hatchetfield Bee).

As Bill and Paul arrive at Hatchetfield High, Bill laments to Paul that he believes the argument they had is the reason Alice is trapped. It is at this point that the infected Alice reveals herself and agrees that it is his fault. She then sings Not Your Seed, in which she confirms all of Bill's fears, as well as his beliefs about Deb. Because he couldn't stand the thought of having to live without his daughter, Bill attempts to shoot himself with the gun he brought to defend himself. Paul manages to knock the gun from Bill's hands, and it is picked up by the infected Alice, who uses it to shoot and kill her father. Alice, Deb, and the Hatchetfield Bee then attempt to kill Paul using the gun, but after he dodges their shots, the three decide that they will instead rip him limb from limb. However, before they are able to do so, the army shows up and the three infected teenagers flee.

Black Friday[]

Alice is mentioned by Paul in Black Friday when he mentions how his friend Bill attempted to get a Wiggly doll for his kid: Alice.

Watcher World[]

Alice is one of the main protagonists of the episode Watcher World. The episode opens on Alice and Bill in the car heading to the Watcher World theme park on the other side of the Hatchetfield island. While Bill drives, Alice scrolls through her Instagram. It's revealed that Alice's girlfriend Deb is throwing a party, but Alice is unable to go due to their day out, but to her displeasure. Once they arrive at Watcher World, Bill attempts to buy Alice a child's ticket at the gate, but Alice protests, saying she needs the adult one. The ticket vendor ends up giving Alice a child's ticket, which irritates her.

Once they're inside the theme park, Bill walks off, leaving Alice alone. She eats a piece of gum and throws the wrapper on the ground before immediately running into a Blinky mascot, who forces her to pick it up. As she bends down, the mascot acts like a creep before Alice walks away. Once her dad returns, they go on the eye drop, a log flume ride where Alice gets drenched and ends up wearing an oversized shirt bought from the Watcher World gift shop. Bill encourages Alice to take a selfie with him at Drowsy Town station, asking Alice how he can follow her to put it on Instagram. Alice refuses, saying she doesn't want him knowing about her life. The two then go and watch Blinky's watch party, where Bill falls asleep while Alice witnesses the show, and it's terrible end where the Snigglette actress gets hit with a wooden mallet.

Following the show, Bill and Alice eat some theme park food. Whilst scrolling through Instagram, Alice discovers that Ziggy will be attending Deb's party and gets scared that Deb will cheat on her as Deb previously had a crush on Ziggs. Bill encourages Alice to go on the Tearjerker rollercoaster with him. While in the line, Alice witnesses a girl name Alison's boyfriend cheat on her. She accepts the offer to ride as a single rider and leaves the line before Bill quickly follows after her and they get in the roller coaster car. As the car slowly climbs the coaster, Alice begins to get nervous as it's revealed she has a fear of heights. Once they reach the top of the coaster, the ride stops, leaving Bill and Alice stranded. Alice begins to have a panic attack, prompting Bill to help get her down. He asks her to tell him about the play she's been working on that got her a scholarship to her college. Alice tells her father about her vampire play and, before she knows it, she has returned to the ground.

Once safe, Alice asks her father to give her her phone, however Bill dropped it during their escape from the ride and so the two fight and go their separate ways. After winning at a shooting carnival game, Alice meets Madam Iris, who retrieves Alice's phone from her cloak. While scrolling through Instagram, Alice sees images of Deb and Ziggs seemingly appearing to be hooking up. This causes the girl to be heartbroken. Madam Iris suggest that she would be able to save her relationship by leaving now and gives her a shotgun to help her get the car keys from her father.

Alice and Bill confront one another on the main street of Watcher World as it's revealed both have been infected by Blinky's spell. The father and daughter fight. Alice almost has her legs broken by Bill until her father notices her clearly having a panic attack. Bill and Alice are attacked by Blinky, but Alice shoots him and the two are swept from the park in a river of purple goo that erupts from the wound. The father and daughter get in the car to go home. As they drive, Alice pulls out her phone and sends her father an Instagram follow request before throwing her phone on the back seat and falling asleep.

Forever and Always[]

Alice is mentioned by Bill while on the phone to his ex-wife. The two arrange for Alice to come stay with Bill while her mother goes on vacation with her boyfriend Allan to the French Riviera.

Killer Track[]

Alice and Deb are attending the Hatchetfield Honey Festival festival together while Alice is home from New York for the summer. Deb offers her earbud to Alice telling her she has to listen to the song as it's "killer". This prompts Duke Keane to interrupt taking Deb's phone. Deb and Alice are annoyed, with Deb declaring that Duke must be a False Lashes hater. Miss Holloway gives Deb her phone back and apologizes to the two girls and they walk off.

Hey, Melissa![]

Alice is mentioned in Hey, Melissa! when Bill talks about the reason he cares so much for Melissa is because she reminds him of Alice.

Workin' Boys[]

Alice is mentioned in Workin' Boys when Bill tells Ted about how she ditched him and their plans to go and see Workin' Girls.

Alice is also mentioned on the prop Playbill for Workin' Girls. The description for Blinky's Watch Party at the Starlight Theater reads: "A musical extravaganza through Drowseytown! It will be oh so wonderful to see you again, Bill! Yes Bill, I'm talking to you. Don't bother showing this to Ted. No one else will be able to see it. But I can see you, Bill. I've been watching you, with Nine-Hundred and Ninety-Nine Eyes. One short, thanks to your little brat. It's time I paid you back, Bill. What's the old expression? "An eye for an eye" Hehehehehehehehe!"

Personality and Traits[]

While in the presence of her friends, Alice attempts to be a "bad kid" to better fit in with Deb and The Smoke Club. However, she is actually a "goody-two-shoes", similar to her father. Alice enjoys writing and wants to be a playwright. Alongside this, Alice actively enjoys theatre, particularly musicals having seen both Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen. Alice also has anxiety which can make her prone to panic attacks.

Skills[]

  • Writing- Alice is a skilled writer and it allowed her to gain a scholarship to study playwriting in New York. She has written one play which is a sapphic romance between a human and a vampire.
  • Shooting- Alice is particularly talented shooting with a gun almost always hitting her target.

Relationships[]

Bill Woodward[]

Alice and Bill

Alice and her father during Not Your Seed

Alice is the daughter of Bill Woodward and the two have a rather strained relationship. While they care for each other, Bill and Alice regularly fight and butt heads about a range of things. One recurring argument is how Bill doesn't like Alice's girlfriend Deb at one point even suggesting she date someone like Grace Chasity. Despite these arguments, Alice loves Bill and even wanted to live with him after he and her mother got divorced, but Bill didn't fight for her and as a result she only gets to be with him in Hatchetfield for one week a month.

It was Bill's love for Alice that got him killed in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals as he attempted to kill himself with the shotgun, but it was thrown away by Paul. This allowed the infected Alice to grab the gun and use it to shoot and kill her father.

In Watcher World, Alice and Bill's relationship is the main focus. Throughout the story, the two slowly but surely fall under the influence of Blinky, and almost kill each other near the end, but it is their love for one another that allows them to break free from Blinky's control and defeat him. While driving home, Alice sends Bill a friend request on Instagram, which makes Bill very happy.

Alice and Deb

Alice and Deb in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

Deb[]

Deb is Alice's long-time girlfriend. The two appear to care deeply for each other but despite this Alice still feels somewhat insecure in their relationship, feeling like she has to act like a 'bad girl' to be accepted by Deb and her friends. As well as this Alice is terrified that Deb is going to leave her as demonstrated in Watcher World where Blinky is able to manipulate Alice's fear that Deb will cheat on her with Ziggs to manipulate and gain control over her.

Paul Matthews[]

Paul Matthews used to babysit Alice when she was younger. According to Bill she thinks he's cool though this is likely untrue[1].

Alice's Mother[]

Little is known about Alice's relationship with her mother, only that she lives with her for three weeks a month and would rather live with Bill.

Trivia[]

  • The name 'Alice' is of Old French origin, meaning 'noble', and the English surname 'Woodward' is commonly used for foresters, the name originally deriving from the Old English 'wode' (wood) and 'ward' ('guardian' or keeper'). As a result, the name Alice Woodward could be interpreted as 'noble forest guardian'.
  • In TGWDLM, Alice is 17 going on 18. When is Bill is talking to the people at the office, he rounds up, as that morning he'd had a fight with Alice while driving her to the bus station, and she likely told him to stop treating her like a child because she's nearly 18, and Bill is acknowledging that.
  • It is likely that Alice's birthday is a matter of days after the events of TGWDLM, and as she's going to be in Clivesdale for it and Bill's going to miss it, that's the reason he's taking her to Mamma Mia and Red Lobster.[2]
  • Alice is too much of a goody-two-shoes to hang out with Lex Foster and Ethan Green.[3]
  • Alice is afraid of heights, and hates roller coasters.
