Britney Coleman (born January 23) is an American actress, singer and performer based in New York. She is best known for her numerous works on Broadway as well as her work with American musical theatre company Team StarKid.

Early Life and Education[]

Britney grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She started her stage career in third grade when she appeared in The Secret Garden. She then continued to pursue theatre, choir and orchestra through the end of high school. Britney then attended The University of Michigan where she studied in their BFA Musical Theatre program.

Work[]

Britney has appeared in a wide range of theatre productions on both Broadway and in national tours. Britney made her Broadway debut as Lucille/Shirelle in Beautiful: The Carol King Musical and has since gone on to appear in Sunset Boulevard, Tootsie and Company on Broadway. Britney has also appeared in as Lucille/Shirelle in the first national tour of Beautiful: The Carol King Musical and as Barbara Maitland in the first national tour of Beetlejuice.

Britney has also appeared in a number of regional productions such as appearing as Gloria/Soldier 2 in the Stage 773 production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Rapunzel/Cinderella's Mom in the Baltimore Centre Stage production of Into the Woods and as Guenevere in multiple production of Camelot.

Britney has also done some voiceover and audiobook work appearing as Mrs. Alicia Johnson in Lady Susan in 2020 and Georgia Washington in Fame Forever: Talent Springs Eternal in 2015.

Alongside this, Britney has also worked on a number of readings and workshops such as that for The Devil Wears Prada and The Bedwetter.[1] Outisde of theatre Britney has appeared in music videos for both Carlos Valdes and Charlene Kaye.

StarKid Productions[]

Britney met the members of StarKid while collaborating in UoM's university's student-run theatre organization Basement Arts. At that point, there was no concept that they were in some sort of troupe — they were just friends with each other in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance.

In 2009, Britney featured in A Very Potter Musical as Bellatrix Lestrange. The show sold out its four performances at UMich. A recorded version of the show that was posted on YouTube for family members to watch went viral and in response to the musicals popularity StarKid Productions was formed, with Britney as one of it's founding members.

Britney then went on to join the company in both A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year reprising her role as Bellatrix while also appearing as Dean Thomas.

Britney then returned to join StarKid in 2019 to feature in StarKid Homecoming. Britney then featured as Belle in the 2020 digital production of A VHS Christmas Carol. She also appeared on the cast album for the show. However, Britney did not return for the 2021 live production of the show due to her Broadway commitments and her role was given to Janaya Mahealani Jones.

Personal Life[]

Britney is currently based in New York. She is proficient in a number of instruments including violin, mandolin, basic acoustic guitar, electric bass, ukulele and piano.
