Coven Communications, Research & Power, also known as CCRP, is a company that features within the Hatchetfield Universe. It is the workplace of Paul Matthews, Bill Woodward, Ted Spankoffski and Charlotte Sweetly and features in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, Forever and Always and Time Bastard.

Description[]

CCRP is an international corporation, its Hatchetfield office is located in the CCRP Office Building. Only one department of CCRP is known: the technical department. The true aims of the company are unknown but they have undertaken a number of secret projects:

Cloning[]

After taking a sample of Paul Matthews saliva from a coffee cup, CCRP began cloning Paul in the basement of their offices. These clones were then used as free labour at a secret mining colony on the moon. This project resulted in the creation of Paul Perkins

Time Manipulation[]

In 2019 CCRP began an experiment into time manipulation in Lab C-8, they attempted to harness the power of the Lord in Black Tinky and use it to manipulate time. However, they ultimately declared the experiment as a failure as they were unable to use the temporal distortion to travel in time. The test was unsuccessful but people were able to travel through time if wished so by Tinky, as seen in the case of Ted Spankoffski.

Android Creation[]

In 2104 CCRP made plans to create a humanoid android. The aim of this android was to be able to reduce the need for a human workforce. However, upon creating an android, Emma Matthews, she killed her creators and was able to escape through a temporal disortion.

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals[]

The CCRP office first appears in TGWDLM as Paul's workplace. It appears to be a normal office with co-workers in their own offices or cubicles. There is a company softball league and a no smoking policy, as well as a problem with the printer network, giving Paul trouble when he tries to print his weekly reports. The office is overseen by Mr. Davidson.

CCRP reappears in the show's sixth scene, in which Ted, Bill, and Charlotte, Paul's co-workers, are drinking coffee and chatting in the break room. In this scene we also enter Mr. Davidson's office, in which we see how the apotheosis is starting to take hold on the citizens of Hatchetfield. Paul manages to escape from the office and runs away.

Forever and Always[]

In Forever and Always, a brief scene is set in the CCRP office. This reveals Paul and Bill work in cubicles, whereas Ted has his own office. Sylvia, the top floor secretary and Bill's current girlfriend, is discussing a potential temporal distortion in Ted's office, and states that she wants it nailed shut as it is probably "radioactive" in there. It is later revealed that present day CCRP has been creating clones of Paul Matthews in their basement for years. In the future they also create Emma Matthews, the Emma Perkins android.

Time Bastard[]

The CCRP office features in Time Bastard when Paul sends Ted to the office to print his weekly reports. While doing this, Ted discovers that his office acts as a time machine, where he accidentally travels 85 years into the future. The future CCRP is part of a dystopian future where corporations rule instead of governments. It is now a global corporation and Sector 19, the Western hemisphere, is run by Executive Kilgore. CCRP is shown to have been experimenting with a temporal distortion in the attempt to harness the power of Tinky. It is this that allows Ted to travel through time. While exploring the future CCRP, Ted learns that they are developing androids made in the likeness of Emma Perkins. CCRP is also shown to have a genetic database, as they are able to unveil Ted's identity through his DNA.

Hey, Melissa![]

The CCRP office features in Hey, Melissa!. Freddie Biggs works undercover there and almost apprehends Melissa while in the building but is stopped by Paul.

Assuming he is still in the present, he goes to the usual Monday meeting where he hears plans to create an android in the image of Emma Perkins, a plan that eventually results in Emma Matthews. After being discovered as a person from the past, Ted is locked up while Executive Andrew Kilgore, in his office in the basement of CCRP, is notified. He then visits Ted in his cell but the man escapes back to his office and leaves.
