Denise Donovan (born July 17, 1986) is an American actress, singer, dancer, model choreographer and performer based in Chicago. She is best known for her work with American musical theatre company Team StarKid.
Early Life and Education[]
Denise attended Columbia College Chicago where she graduated in 2007 with a BFA in Acting and Dancing. She has also trained in improv with The Second City.
Work[]
Denise has featured in a wide range of theatrical productions. She featured as herself in Our Moms Think We're Special in Chicago Women's Funny Fest and appeared in the Ensemble in Tim and Micah Project at Chicago Sketchfest. Denise has also appeared in commercials for companies such as Weather Tech, Hoosier Lottery, Valspar, Simmons onion, Carnival Cruise and Dr. Pepper.
Alongside this, Denise has featured in a wide range of online media and short films. She featured as Rhonda in the short film The Denim Warrior as well as playing Kristen in Chris Allen's short film OMG. Denise also featured in the viral online video The Princess Burn Book by Robert Manion. Denise has also featured as a principal actor and writer for Free Paint Comedy as well as co-hosting a podcast called The After School Special with Jaime Lyn Beatty.
Alongside this, Denise has done modelling for companies such as Peerless, McDonalds, Bally Total Fitness and Always.
Denise has also worked as a choreographer and dance instructor. She worked as a Lead Dance Instructor and Choreographer for Starland, Deerfield and served as Music Video Choreographer for The Onion where she created adverts for brands such as Diet Dr. Pepper and American Honey. Denise is currently Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of Off The Groud Dance.
StarKid Productions[]
Denise made her StarKid debut in 2013 in the comedy sketch show Airport for Birds where she served as an actor alongside writing several sketches. She later went on to join the group for their other sketch shows 1Night 2Last 3EVER and Yes, I Am Afraid Of The Dark!.
Denise made her StarKid musical debut as February in the musical Starship for which she also served as choreographer. She later went on to appear in five more musicals: Holy Musical B@man!, A Very Potter Senior Year, Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier, Ani: A Parody and Firebringer. Denise also served as choreographer for Firebringer.
Denise also joined the group for both A Very StarKid Reunion and StarKid Homecoming.
