Black Friday[]
During the events of Black Friday, Linda makes him stay in the family car, keeping it warm and looking after the children. He keeps wanting to come into the mall and visit the Cinnabon however Linda will not let him. He spends the majority of the events of the show on the phone to Linda.
Honey Queen[]
Gerald first appears on the phone with a client when he is called by Linda who tells him to get in to the car to go visit Roman Murray. He expresses his distaste for his father-in-law, and says he doesn't want to go, but Linda coerces him, and they go anyway. After some nasty comments by Roman about Gerald and his family, Gerald grows increasingly perturbed. He tells Roman he should thank Linda for all the work she’s been doing on the dinner cruise for the Honey Festival. Roman responds saying the cruise was cancelled, and continues to taunt Linda.
In the car-ride home, Gerald expresses to Linda that he doesn't like the way Roman talks to her, saying that he treats her like shit while having lots of praise for some hypothetical Honey Queen. This results in Linda forming a plan to try and become the Honey Queen.
Later, Gerald finds Linda in the back yard, throwing a baton and failing to catch it. Linda tells him she's practicing for the Honey Queen Pageant. She also says it's his fault for ruining her life, which, according to her, he did by not encouraging her. He seems used to her antics, and calms her down. She's upset because she doesn't want to lose to a twenty-three year old, and she doesn't think her father will cheat for her. Gerald responds that she can cheat for herself, reminding her of the time she messed with the skis of an opponent in a skiing competition in college. He also remarks that that was the moment he knew that she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
He helps Linda cheat by telling Martha Wright, a patient of his and a Honey Queen contender, that he's all booked up and can not do her collagen injections until after the Honey Queen Pageant, while in reality his schedule is completely empty. He and Linda also pay a homeless man to pretend to be a casting director, with Gerald acting as his assistant. They get Zoey to belt all day long, causing her to lose her voice and not be able to perform in the Pageant.
At the Pageant, Gerald sits with his four boys. His son, Trent is kicking the seat in front of him. When the man turns around and asks Gerald to do something about it, Gerald says that he should do something himself, as it is his chair that's being kicked.
After Linda's performance of the song Queen B, River asks if he can go to the bathroom, and Gerald lets him go alone. After a while he notices River has been gone for too long and starts to look for him. After receiving a call from Linda where she tells him that River has been kidnapped by Zoey's boyfriend, Sam, he goes to the parking lot and finds the car where he's hidden thanks to Linda using a ruse to get Sam out of the car. Gerald tackles Sam and they fight, punching each other. Then Sam pulls out his gun and shoots Gerald three times in his shoulder. Gerald scurries of, leaving a trail of blood for Sam to follow. When Sam finds his blood-soaked dress-shirt, Gerald is in his and Linda's SUV, and slams down the gas pedal. Sam shoots at the car, the windshield shatters, but the car nevertheless plows into him. Gerald's face smacks the steering wheel.
Gerald is just able to text Linda "River’s safe. Everything’s okay." Then his phone falls to the floor, as he loses the strength to hold it. Blood flows from his three gunshot wounds, and he slumps over in the driver’s seat, where he dies.
Later, Linda calls him and leaves him a message without knowing he's dead, thanking Gerald for believing in her and that despite not showing it enough, she loves him.
