Musicals[]

As of yet, three musicals are part of the Hatchetfield Universe: The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, Black Friday, and Nerdy Prudes Must Die. The first two have both completed their original run and had a recording be uploaded to YouTube, whereas NPMD has only a confirmed completed book.

From the beginning TGWDLM was marketed as a standalone original StarKid musical, although from behind the scenes it was being treated as a pilot for the Hatchetfield Universe, as if TGWDLM had not received a good reaction, the Universe may have been scrapped. However, due to TGWDLM's outstanding success, Black Friday's first trailer announced that the new musical would be returning to Hatchetfield, establishing the Hatchetfield Series. After NPMD's announcement, fans began to dub this series the 'Hatchetfield Trilogy', but Nick Lang refuted this, stating via his Twitter that this would not be a trilogy and proposing 'Hatchetfield Universe' or 'Hatchetfield Series' as an alternate name.

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals[]

TGWDLM takes place in Hatchetfield in October 2018, placing it in a different timeline to Black Friday. The first installment of the Hatchetfield Universe, this musical introduces the town of Hatchetfield and its inhabitants, following the story of a small group as they try to survive a musical apocalypse. Emma Perkins is established as a Beanies barista who Paul Matthews has a crush on, and the pair grow close across the story, although Paul eventually succumbs to the extraterrestrial pathogen and it is implied that he goes on to infect Emma too. Other characters such as Bill and Alice Woodward, Ted Spankoffski and Professor Hidgens are also introduced in the show. Jane Perkins is mentioned, and Tom and Tim Houston are referenced (although not by name), and General John McNamara makes his first appearance. The show also introduced the presence of eldritch beings in Hatchetfield as while being accredited to aliens the apotheosis was later revealed to have been caused by Pokotho.

Black Friday[]

Black Friday takes place in Hatchetfield on the 23rd November 2018, placing it in a different timeline to TGWDLM. The second installment of the Hatchetfield Universe, this musical both introduces new characters and involves old ones, following the stories of different people as they try to survive a Black Friday from Hell. Here Paul Matthews and Emma Perkins are re-introduced as an already-established couple, Tom and Tim Houston are introduced as a grieving father and son, and Lex and Hannah Foster are introduced as sisters with special powers. Wiggly is introduced as the first Lord in Black to actually appear on stage. Jane Perkins is mentioned again, General John McNamara makes his second appearance, and the multiverse is established via the Black and White.

Nerdy Prudes Must Die[]

Nerdy Prudes Must Die was announced by Nick Lang in The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals anniversary stream. The show is confirmed to have a completed book but has also been changing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic leading to the Nightmare Time series. Due to Nightmare Time not initially being planned some information was taken from Nerdy Prudes Must Die.

The story furthered the Hatchetfield narrative by revealing Wiggly as not being the only malevolent eldritch being in Hatchetfield and therefore creating the Lords in Black as a group.

Forever and Always[]

Forever and Always initially appears to follow Emma Perkins and Paul Matthews as they get married but the story is ultimately derailed by the reveal of a dark secret from Emma's past. The story saw the return of characters such as Emma, Bill, Ted, Hidgens and Tom while also introducing Emma Matthews and Paul Perkins as the stories main protagonists as well as introducing Sylvia as Bill's new girlfriend. The story introduced time travel into the Hatchetfield Universe and also suggested CCRP to be a shady conglomerate for the first time.

The story introduced another Lord in Black: Tinky as well as saying his full name T'noy Karaxis and also furthered showed CCRP to be a lot more malevolent than it appeared in TGWDLM. The story further explores time travel in Hatchetfield properly and shows a dystopian future for Hatchetfield in the year of 2104 while also showing an older Hatchetfield in 2004. The story introduced characters such as Jenny and Andrew Kilgore and also revealed the Homeless Man to be Ted who got stuck in the past.

The Witch in the Web[]

Set in October 2019, The Witch in the Web follows Hannah Foster as she struggles with her dreams being plagued by an evil witch who has kidnapped her friend Webby. The story had the first appearance of the Foster sister's mother Pamela as well as Webby. It introduced Miss Holloway as a witch with a connection to the black and white as well as the social worker Duke. The story also further developed Hannah's powers describing her as having the most powerful psychic mind in the history of reality and linked the Foster sisters as being descended from witches which is how they got their powers. The story also directly labeled the Lords in Black as Lords in Black for the first time while also revealing Webby to be their sister. The story introduced the doll forms of Pokotho and Nibblnephim. The history of Hatchetfield was explored showing the trial and execution of Willabella Muckwab, a disciple of Wiggly, in 1824. Wilbur Cross also featured in the story.

Workin' Boys[]

Workin' Boys was initially announced as a short film made for backers of the 10niversary kickstarter however due to the nature of the film changing and becoming more important to the overall Hatchetfield lore it will likely be available to others in some form later on. The film was due to be filmed in early 2020 and released later that year but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the film was put on hold. The film was pitched as a film following Professor Henry Hidgens as he attemtps to create his dream show: Workin' Boys, however unbeknownst to Hidgens there is something nefarious going on at the Starlight Theater.
