"At first I didn't know what she was to me
At first I didn't know why I cared
Or why I wanted
To hold her and rock her to sleep
Did I need her more than she needed me?

Black Friday[]

Not very much is known about Lex's early life. However, it is known that her mother, Pamela, is an alcoholic and that she has been working at Toy Zone for two years (her job being her family's main source of income).

She is first introduced in the scene where Tom asks if he can park his car in the loading truck spot. She sarcastically tells him that the loading trucks could park down the street. She can be seen smoking a bud throughout this scene, as well as a majority of the first act. During this scene, we learn that Lex is a High-School dropout and was in Tom Houston's shop class until he left due to a family emergency (his wife's death). It is also stated that Lex has a history with weed/drugs.

A good amount of information about Lex's family/home life is revealed during a scene with her boss, Frank Pricely, when they get their order of Tickle-Me-Wiggly dolls. Lex is said to be snippy towards Toy Zone's costumers and constantly has Ethan at the store during her shift. It is also revealed that Lex does have a criminal record and though it is not specifically stated what for, it can be assumed that it's related to weed/drugs. We also learn during this scene that Lex has an awful mother, a woman with no prospects who is unable to provide for her and her children. After their conversation, Lex asks if Frank wants her to unload the order of delivery boxes. Frank agrees with her and walks away. Once he does so, however, Lex steals a Tickle-Me-Wiggly doll.

After stuffing the Tickle-Me-Wiggly doll into her backpack, Lex's boyfriend, Ethan Green, shows up pretending to be mall security. She hugs Ethan and asks where her sister is, to which Ethan pretends to have forgotten, but makes it clear that this is another goof. Ethan takes Lex's sister, Hannah, by the hand and lets her sit on one of the crates. Lex then asks Hannah if she's having a good day or a bad day, to which Hannah responds that she's having a bad day. She then reassures Hannah that they are going to have a good day, before passing her pinned backpack, the one containing the Tickle-Me-Wiggly doll, to Hannah after some help from Ethan.

The reasoning behind Lex stealing a Tickle-Me-Wiggly doll is so that Ethan and she could sell it and get money for when they head to California. The original plan was to sell the doll for five hundred dollars, but Ethan says there was a complication with the buyer. The complication, however, is that someone is instead going to pay seven thousand dollars. This scene leads to the song CaliforM.I.A. Near the end of the song, Lex writes out a hateful letter to her mom, telling her that's she's taking Hannah with her. She also tells her to get a new trailer, because the one she has is broke, ASS, SHIT. The song ends with her and Ethan making out. They are interrupted however, as they both notice Hannah pretending to smoke cigarettes.

Later on, Lex announces that the doors to Toy Zone will be opening to the line of customers waiting outside. She seems to be rather good towards the line of customers, however, this does not disprove Frank's point from earlier. It is clear during the song Our Doors Are Open that Lex is not as enthusiastic as Frank is about Toy Zone. When customers begin offering ridiculous amounts of money for the doll, Lex tells them to get back in line. However, no one seems to listen to her and Lex instead gets pushed by the Man in a Hurry. She is not seen for the rest of Act 1.

The next time Lex is seen during the show is in Act 2, when she is brought to Linda Monroe, the "prophet" of Wiggly. She is quiet throughout most of the scene, until after Linda slits Franks's throat, which saddens Lex. Linda is able to tell Lex knows where a Tickle-Me-Wiggly doll is (stating that she can smell it on her). Lex claims that she has no idea what Linda is talking about and would likely have been able to get away with this lie, had there not have been any security footage of Lex stealing a Tickle-Me-Wiggly that morning. Because of this, Linda finds out that not only did Lex steal a Wiggly doll, but she also placed in her backpack and gave it to Hannah. Lex begs them not to hurt her sister, but Linda doesn't care and orders her minions to capture her.

Lex appears again with Sherman Young holding her hostage. She tries to persuade Sherman not to kill her, saying that she has mispainted pony dolls for him if he lets her go. Taking a liking to her offer, Sherman unties Lex and states that she can give him the ponies first and he'll just murder her later. Lex then knees Sherman in the crotch and yells that she threw out the ponies. Lex begins to walk away, but Sherman trips her and puts her into a headlock.

As Lex accepts her fate, she hears a voice calling out to her saying she's not dead yet. The voice is revealed to belong to General John McNamara, calling out to Lex from the Black and White. He then authorizes her to use his firearm (a callback to The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals). During this scene, it is confirmed that Lex and Hannah both have powers that let them access the Black and White (it is unknown why they have these powers or if any other characters in the Hatchetfield universe have these powers). Lex then takes the firearm and shoots Sherman, killing him immediately. After killing Sherman, Lex is able to have a quick conversation with McNamara. He tells Lex to gather her forces, wake the warrior, kill the prophet, and save the world. Before disappearing, McNamara proudly tells Lex that she is a part of P.E.I.P now.

Tom had almost left the mall with a Tickle-Me-Wiggly before Lex finds him. She tells him that she needs his help, and to get rid of the doll. When he refuses to listen Lex tells him that Tim doesn't even want the toy, in fact no kid wants the doll (they're into Fortnite, dude). The only people who wanted the dolls all along were the adults. Realizing how ridiculous he has been, Tom throws the doll away and releases himself from it's control. He then tells Lex that Hannah and Becky have been kidnapped by Linda and her cult of Wiggly followers and takes off with her to go save them (but not before moving some boxes).

Lex appears to Linda with Tom's Wiggly doll in her hands. Linda is jealous right away and angry that Lex has the doll and she does not. She then proceeds to call Lex stupid for coming into the lion's den with a Wiggly doll, before Tom comes from behind her and puts Lex's gun up to her head, distracting the members of Wiggly's cult. Lex is then able to run to Hannah and save her from the cultists. She then moves up a couple of the stairs, takes out the doll and threatens to burn it with her lighter. Unfortunately, Linda is able to steal the doll from Lex before even had the chance. Outnumbered, Lex runs off stage with Hannah.

Lex, Tom and Hannah all re-appear on stage after Becky shoots Linda. Lex then burns the last Wiggly doll before leaving and Linda's cult dies in the fire (with the exception of Gary Goldstein and Charlotte). She then escapes the now burning mall with the rest of the group.

Lex is present during the song What if Tomorrow Comes, counting down to the end of "The Black Friday from Hell" along with the other citizens of Hatchetfield. By the end of the song, she hears a whooshing noise over her head and looks up, as the stage fades to black.

Jane's A Car[]

Lex features in the opening of Jane's A Car. She is sat in Tom's car inside of Tony Green's Body-Shop. As Lex listens to music on the radio when the stereo mysteriously switches over to the tape deck. Irritated by this Lex hits the radio try try and get it to switch back until she is told to stop by Ethan Green. Ethan then hits the radio again and it switches back. Lex questions why they didn't replace the stereo in the car and it is revealed that the car belongs to Tom. Lex softens at this information, realising that Jane died in the car. Ethan then tells Lex to give the car some gas but it has somehow mysteriously switched to drive almost running Ethan over until she slams on the break much to Ethan's annoyance. After Ethan lectures her Lex is visibly upset and he comforts her.

The Witch in the Web[]

In Witch in the Web it is revealed that Lex and Ethan were caught selling Pamela's painkillers. Lex was sentenced to five years in prison. Later on Lex is impersonated by Willabella Muckwab. At the end of the story Miss Holloway promises Hannah that someway Lex will come home.

Daddy[]

The story opens with Frank and Lex working at Toy Zone. Frank gets annoyed at Lex for not working but she points out that the store is empty. Frank finds out that Lex is filling out a job application at Best Buy which Lex explains is because Frank keeps cutting her hours. Lex implies that she thinks Toy Zone will be closing soon which annoys Frank and he tells her to leave.

Later after Frank marries Sheila Young, Lex asks if she's able to get a raise but Frank tells her she needs to prove herself to earn it. Later, after he's locked in the dungeon under the Young mansion and attempts to unlock the gate, Frank apologises to Lex to himself for not doing better by her.

Yellow Jacket[]

Lex first appears at the hospital after Hannah's accident demanding to know where her sister is. She's stopped by Becky who tells her that Hannah is fine. Lex then asks how much Hannah's medical bills are going to cost and is horrified to find the cost is twenty-four-thousand dollars. She then gets Hannah and leaves the hospital. Later that day, Lex is studying her books in the apartment's living room when Ethan comes in and mentions to her that the tap is dripping. Lex yells at Ethan about their financial state and the boy leaves to fix the tap. As he's leaving he asks Lex to pass him the wrench and she throws it at his head, Ethan ducks and the wrench sticks in the wall.

A few weeks later, Lex gets ready to leave for work and as she goes she gives Ethan a list of things to remember to do. Later, Lex goes from work to the Hatchetfield Community Center to sit her high school equivalency exam. She arrives late and sits to fill out the exam. After asking what the date is, Lex realises she's forgotten Hannah's birthday. Later that day when Hannah and Ethan return home from the Hatchetfield Roller-rama, they find Lex with a pitiful balloon and a paper plate with a hostess cupcake. Lex apologises to Hannah for forgetting about her birthday and then has to go to bed as she has work the next day. This prompts Ethan to allow Hannah to fight at the Hatchetfield Roller-rama.

A few days later, Lex is finishing her shift at Toy Zone and Frank tells her that Ethan called to ask Lex to meet him at an address. Lex goes to the address and find's Ethan and Hannah in a penthouse which they reveal they now own. Ethan tells Lex that they got the money to pay for it by investing in the stock marker. Later that night, Lex tucks Hannah into bed and goes to find Ethan in the master suite. After realising Ethan forgot to buy a bed, Ethan and Lex hook up in the bouncy house. Afterwards, Lex tells Ethan about how she used to see Webby causing Ethan to realise that Lex also has powers like Hannah.

A few days later, just as Lex is leaving for work, Ethan attempts to propose to her but is stopped by Eddie Chiplucky arriving at the house.

Later that day, Lex is restocking the shelves in Toy Zone. She opens a box which contains some Sing-Along Pokey dolls. The dolls come to life and grab at Lex, overwhelming her and pushing her to the ground. The dolls in her down and one doll crawls onto her chest and blue goo spills from it's mouth onto Lex's face. Lex struggles and sinks in the blue goo.

Suddenly, Lex is all alone in a dark black void when she's joined by a familiar presence: Webby. Webby tells Lex that Hannah is in trouble and guides her in using her powers to teleport herself into the ring at the Hatchetfield Roller-rama. Lex sees Hannah who is almost being possessed by Otho. Otho's minions: the Boy with the Bloody Nose and Sophia attack Lex and Sophia traps her in a ring of fire where she is then attacked and held by the boy with the bloody nose. Lex then uses her powers to reach through the Black and White to steal the detonator for the bomb in the bottom of Otho's neck from Charles Coven' pocket. Lex detonates it and kills Otho and reunites with Hannah. Charles attempts to recruit Lex and Hannah as his fighters but the girls manage to escape after Ethan holds Charles at gunpoint.

Lex, Ethan and Hannah return home and Lex is angry at Ethan. After Lex puts Hannah to bed, Ethan attempts to apologise to Lex but she tells him that they'll talk in the morning and leaves to go to sleep in Hannah's room. The next morning, Ethan awakens to find that Lex and Hannah have left Hatchetfield and that Lex has left him a letter explaining how they had to leave as they wouldn't be safe in Hatchetfield. Lex tells Ethan to be young for all of them as Lex and Hannah can't be due to their powers. Meanwhile, Lex drives Hannah away from Hatchetfield and Hannah asks if they'll ever go back and Lex tells her that she doesn't think they will. Lex tells Hannah to try and get some sleep and stares at the horizon as she drives away from Hatchetfield.

Personality and Traits[]

Outwardly Lex appears as a pessimistic, abrasive and rebellious person who cares very little about the things in her life. However, at her core Lex is a protector who wants to shield those she loves from pain and force it onto herself instead. She’d rather suffer than see someone she loves suffer in her place, but this behavior has caused her to miss many things in her academic and personal life while also adopting a stand-offish demeanor. For those she loves in life she would do anything, including leaving them behind. She is a hard worker and tries her best to succeed in everything she does, but her family’s overall financial and parental situations make it hard for her to complete the things she wants to the most. She is also reluctant to see the best in people and abrasive to those who see the best in her, as there are so few. However, deep down Lex is a dreamer who just wants those she loves to be happy and she dreams of being able to follow her own dreams of becoming an actress.

Skills[]

  • The Gift- Lex has a touch of the Gift. Despite weakening as she aged, the gift gives Lex a range of supernatural abilities:

    • Extrasensory Perception- Lex has the ability to see into the Black and White.
    • Teleportation- Lex has the ability to reach into the Black and White to teleport objects and herself from both within and outside the realm.
  • Drug sourcing- Lex is able to source drugs for her mother.
