Mara Jade is a character in Ani: A Parody played by Denise Donovan. She is based on the Star Wars character with the same name who appeared in the now non-canon Legends series.
Mara Jade is a top imperial assasin who is being promoted to the Emperor's new apprentice. When she meets Ani she is unsure of whether she should kill him or not. The two start talking and she learns that he is the Ani Skywalker who was the first human to win the Boonta Eve podrace. She confesses her own enthusiasm for podracing and motivates him to go and race again. He in turn motivates her to persue her dream to become a slave girl at Jabba's palace.
When they reach Tatooine they split up and she goes to audition at Jabba's palace. She gets upset and leaves when the other applicants laugh at her for thinking she could get the position without any experience. She goes to help Ani win the podrace.
After Ani wins his race she goes back to audition and gets the part.
Trivia[]
- The joke about Ani being old enough to be her father-in-law is a reference to the Legends series where she gets married to his son Luke.
- Mara Jade only appears in the Star Wars Extended Universe, which is no longer canon. She is a relatively obscure character which is why Ani had no knowledge of her prior to the show.
- She knows dick about Star Wars.
- Her being unsure of whether she needs to kill Ani or not when she first meets him is a reference to the fact that all of the Emperors previous apprentices had been killed before new ones took their place.
- In the Legends series she marries Ani's son Luke Skywalker after the events of the Original Trilogy and they have a son named Ben Skywalker.
