Roman Murray is a character in the Hatchetfield Universe. He is the father of Linda Monroe. He features in Honey Queen and is played by Jon Matteson.

Honey Queen[]
Roman first appears when The Monroe Family visit him for dinner. He is greeted by Trent, Jordan, Seaton and River who run into his arms. The three elder boys demand money from Roman and he begins handing them hundred dollar bills. Linda tries to get him to stop but he doesn't especially when he learns that Seaton was caught trying to buy a playboy and gives the boy an extra hundred.
Later, the adults sit at the dinner table watching the Monroe boys wrestle in the adjoining study. Roman calls out to River telling him to defend himself and tells Linda that he's worried about the boy and that he doesn't want him to end up like Gerald. Gerald is irritated by this and starts talking to Roman about all the things Linda did for the Hatchetfield Honey Festival. Linda starts talking about how she rented the S.S. Valiant for the festival but then Roman tells her that the planning committee cancelled the cruise as it clashed with the Honey Queen Pageant. Linda rolls her eyes and mocks the honey queen which annoys Roman who insists Linda will show her respect. He then calls Linda her childhood nickname, Piglet, which annoys Linda who tells him to stop but Gerald continues anyway.
Later on the day of the Honey Queen Pageant, Roman approaches Gerald and tells him disapprovingly that he knows that Linda and Gerald are responsible for a number of contestants dropping out. He says that Linda won't get any preferential treatment and that he hopes she won't embarrass him. This annoys Gerald who tells him that if seeing Linda give something her all embarrasses him then he should be embarrassed.
Later, after Linda wins the pageant, Roman approaches her and apologizes to her and tells her he's proud of her. He then takes Linda to the honey queen ceremony in Witchwood Forest. He explains to Linda how the ceremony dates back to the foundation of The Church of the Starry Children and how in giving Nibbly flesh to inhabit and someone to eat, Nibbly grants the church power and money. He then watches as Linda is eaten by Nibbly.
Personality and Traits[]
Roman is a very serious and steadfast man. He believes himself to be always correct and is unwavering in these beliefs. He sees himself as the ultimate man and sees men who are not like him to be a disappointment. He is also unwavering in his beliefs and believes himself to always be correct. Roman is very entitled and is willing to sacrifice others for his own fortune and wealth including his daughter as he cares for no one but himself.

Linda Monroe[]

Linda Monroe is Roman's daughter. The two have a very strained relationship as Roman spends much of his time mocking Linda and calling her the name "Piglet" or "Piggy" which she hates. Roman acts extremely patronising to Linda, treating her like a child. He also doesn't view Linda as worthy of his respect and Linda yearns to impress him and earn it. Despite Linda being his daughter, Roman cares more about the Honey Queen than her.
Gerald Monroe[]

Gerald Monroe is Roman's son-in-law. The two have a very strained relationship with Roman viewing Gerald as weak and pathetic. Gerald dislikes Roman as a result of the way he treats Linda.
Nibbly[]
Roman is a member of the Church of the Starry Children and as a result is a disciple of Nibbly. Roman actively partakes in the worship of Nibbly and every year he partakes in a ritual that allows Nibbly to inhabit a body of pig flesh for one night a year. Alongside this, Roman also helps to plan the Hatchetfield Honey Festival and is a senior judge in the Honey Queen Pageant, which he uses to select a woman to use as a sacrifice to offer to Nibbly every year. In return for his participation in the church and in planning the Honey Queen Pageant, Nibbly gives Roman and the rest of the church wealth and power.
River Monroe[]
River Monroe is Roman's grandson. He wants to raise the boys to be 'true men' and often spoils them by giving them money when they visit. Roman views River as weak and thinks he acts too much like Gerald.

Seaton Monroe[]
Seaton Monroe is Roman's grandson. He wants to raise the boys to be 'true men' and often spoils them by giving them money when they visit. He rewards him for things that Linda disapproves of such as attempting to buy a playboy.
